Pintello Comedy Theater will host playwrights Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, Jamie Wooten authors of "Christmas Belles" and "Dixie Swim Club" Friday, September 16th, at 10 a.m.

Three of the most widely-produced comedic playwrights in America are paying a visit to Pintello Comedy Theater in Gilroy. Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten are authors of Pintello mega-hits, "Christmas Belles" and "Dixie Swim Club." Other Southern-style laugh-out-loud comedies include the pre-quel and the sequel with the wildly popular Futrelle Family Texas trilogy: "Dearly Beloved" and "Southern Hospitality".

The three writers are based in the South, but are traveling at the end of the summer to visit and thank their loyal fan base in the West. Along the way they'll be attending a World Premiere of their play "Mama Won't Fly" in Texas. "We've had several friendly phone calls from Jessie," says Rod Pintello, director of the two plays, "they're looking forward to meeting the casts, hearing about our productions and posing for pictures. This personal touch is certainly part of their charm."

During the production of their shows, the playwrights called to the theater and ask if there are any questions, making sure the casts are enjoying the script and characters. "We've had such great audience response to their plays, we will certainly choose another one to perform soon," says co-producer Marion Pintello. "In fact, Jessie told us she's bringing along a new script to give us as a gift!"

The Pintello family have invited the casts of both shows and will host coffee and pastries on Friday morning. Actors are looking forward to meeting the source of the characters they've portrayed to so much laughter. Rosalind remembers that as soon as she read the script to "Christmas Belles" she wanted to play the outrageous Honey Raye Futrelle. The cast of "Dixie Swim Club" enjoyed their rehearsals and performances so much that they continue to meet annually, just like the characters in the play.

Pintello Comedy Theater in a New Gilroy Location!

Pintello Comedy Theater has a new venue!  Rod and Marion Pintello have moved their popular comedy plays into a new theater – in a venerable old building, the Gilroy Grange Hall at 8191 Swanston Lane.  The husband and wife team, along with their family, are continuing their entertaining business of presenting full-length comedy plays featuring local actors, comfortable table seating, coffee and cookies, and their trademark friendly welcome.

The troupe has been working out of a variety of temporary locations since leaving their former theater in Gilroy over a year ago.  “The Grange Hall has everything we need, plus some extras,” said Rod Pintello as he was loading in the round tables and stacks of chairs.  “There’s a real raised stage with velvet curtains and nice backstage space for the actors,” added Marion, “and everyone has been so accommodating here!”

It certainly seems like a symbiotic relationship between the Grange and the theater.  The hall is used mostly for small meetings so the large auditorium and proscenium stage were empty.  Pintellos were looking for a building where they could rehearse and perform, hopefully with an attached parking area which the property has.  With a central location off Leavesley Road between Monterey and Forest, Pintellos expressed confidence that their loyal patrons will not only find them, but will return for all three shows planned in the first season.
